About
Built by practitioners, for practitioners.
The founders
The founders behind enabledat bring together more than 50 years of hands-on data stewardship and data governance experience across multiple industries.
Not advising teams from the outside. Actually sitting in the rooms where the numbers do not match, where rules get written and then quietly ignored, where definitions get documented and then never used.
enabledat was built because that combined experience kept revealing the same gap: the work demands holding more dimensions at once than any individual can reasonably hold alone, yet nothing was designed to help with that specific problem.
Every prompt, every reasoning step, and every decision point in enabledat has been written, tested, challenged, and refined through real-world work. Not from vendor presentations. Not from theoretical frameworks. From doing the work in real organisations and understanding exactly where and why it breaks down.
Why enabledat exists
Data governance often fails in the space between ambition and execution.
Organisations may have policies, frameworks, roles, and tools, but still struggle to answer practical questions:
- Which data actually matters?
- What rule should we create?
- What does this business term mean?
- What risk are we trying to reduce?
- What outcome should this governance work produce?
enabledat exists to support that practical layer of data governance.
Traditional data quality approaches start with controls and predefined dimensions. Traditional data governance approaches start with frameworks, catalogues, and process models.
Both often produce outputs that are disconnected from the business problems they are meant to solve.
enabledat reverses the process. Start with business pain. Identify what is critical. Classify the risk. Route the work to the right artefact.
The platform is not the end product. The finished artefact your steward can hand to a stakeholder is.
Our belief
Data governance should create real business value.
That value does not come from more meetings, more policies, or more disconnected documentation. It comes from clearer decisions, better controls, shared definitions, and practical artefacts people can use.
enabledat helps data stewards turn governance work into something concrete, reviewable, and useful.
What enabledat does not do
- It does not assign severity levels or risk scores automatically.
- It does not replace human review, judgement, or approval.
- It does not generate finished policy documents without your input.
- It does not replace consultants, subject matter experts, or practitioners.
- It does not pretend to know your organisation better than you do.
enabledat helps you reason through the work, identify gaps, and create structured starting points. You bring the domain knowledge. enabledat helps you turn it into something useful.
Why the reasoning works
The reasoning engine behind enabledat has been developed and refined using more than 120 real business rules across 11 industries.
Every session helps improve the next.
The experience embedded in enabledat reflects years of practical work across data governance, data quality, business definitions, and operational procedures.
Rebuilding that experience from scratch takes time. Most teams can only accumulate it through years of iteration, mistakes, and hard-earned lessons.
